Tessellation


Definition of tessellation
Tessellation is:
A pattern made of identical polygons:
• the polygons must fit together without any gaps
• the polygons should not overlap


Look to the right for an example of tessellation.

A regular polygon has equal sides.  
And a irregular polygon has uneven sides.

Vocabulary
Polygons = shapes
Vertices = when two or more lines meet
Angles = the amount of turn between two straight lines that have an end point.
